Eighties hip hop enthusiasts saddened by Flavor Flav's light speed race to the bottom of Dignity Gulch will be consoled by this new Chuck D assisted Proof of Youth cut, recently unveiled by Gorilla vs. Bear. Though Chuck may not have the angry young man intensity he once did, The Go! Team do their best to surround him with the background sounds of his fire breathing heyday. Bomb Squad sirens (possibly cobbled together from warped vocal tracks) eventually give way to smoother horn fanfares, recalling the layered goodness of Fear of a Black Planet. This being a G! T joint, the role of hype man is handled by a cheerleading squad, with lovable results. Co-opting Public Enemy's sound for party starting rather than stand taking purposes could irk the most stridently social consciouses among the legendary rap group's fan base. You dudes hash that out while the rest of us bust a move.
