Track Review: Swan Lake - Are You Swimming In Her Pools? [Beast Moans]

So a few blogs have already picked up on this but I'd be remiss if I didn't comment on a leaked song from one of my most anticipated releases of the year.
In case you're really out of the loop, Swan Lake is the collaboration of Spencer Krug (Wolf Parade, Sunset Rubdown) Dan Bejar (Destroyer, New Pornographers) and Carey Mercer (Frog Eyes). Beast Moans is set for release by Jagjaguwar on November 21.
"Are You Swimming In Her Pools" is one of Spencer's tracks, and it's pretty comparable to his work with Sunset Rubdown. Frantic acoustic strumming serves as the backdrop for Krug's simmering vocals. The tension builds throughout the song, and eventually becomes as taut as a bow string, never quite boiling over. Krug also shows yet again why he's one of the more exciting lyricists to come around in the past few years, with lines like "are you running up her riverbeds and navigating long fingers of a hand/because fingers make the hand, and rivers make the land."

Although I dont like Sunset Rubdown/Wolf Parade nor do I enjoy Frog Eyes - I've really been digging on what I've been hearing from this collective. Look forward to it
