Track Review: Of Montreal "Harvest Moon"

Kevin Barnes' constant stream of cover versions continues to pull his talent in unexpected directions. The last time we checked, Kev was getting uncomfortably loose and rough with an old Royal Trux number. In comparison to that ill wind, this faithful acoustic airing of Neil Young's "Harvet Moon" (from the digital Sony Connect Set EP) is a cool evening breeze. Barnes coos where Young croaked (was that supposed to have been a coo Neil?) but the lovely, lovestruck soft focus of the sentimental melody is still tough to resist. I'm not sure this short track illuminates any new truth about Of Montreal as a band, though it does further cement the obvious. These guy knows how to play alot of songs, really, really, well.
