Track Review: Of Montreal - Bunny Ain't No Kind of Rider [Hissing Fauna, Are You The Destroyer]

Yes, this is for real, and it's awesome. The album is definitely list-worthy, except for the small kink that it doesn't come out until 2007.
"Bunny Ain't No Kind of Rider" is all synth lines and disco beats with Kevin Barnes in fine, cheeky form. Is there a chorus out there right now that's better than " Eva, I'm sorry, but you will never have me/ To me you're just some faggy girl/ And I need a lover with soul power/ And you ain't got no soul power" ? The answer is no...Seriously people, if you don't like this, you're pretty much dead inside.

I'm not on soul life support or anything, but I guess my soul could afford to go to the doctor and get checked out, because I find this to be "just okay."

Matt, I'm beginning to worry about you...seriously though, the album on the whole is probably the most immediately catchy thing Of Montreal has ever put out. There's some Abbaeaque tracks that are just unreal.

What's weird about this song is that these are real Athens people and we know them and it's sorta freaky. It takes place at the Go! Bar. They aren't people I know too well, but I know of them. I'm pretty sure that it's Matthew from Phosphorescent that shows up in the song, but I could be wrong.

Okay, I'm obsessing over Bunny Ain't No Kind of Rider. And if can be downloaded for free at daytrotter.comdaytrotter had of montreal record with them, and they recorded a cool acoustic version of the song. Although the acoustic version is called Eagle Shaped Mirror.But I can't stop compulsively telling people that they don't have soul power. It might become a problem.
