Track Review: Bruce Springsteen "Radio Nowhere"
The first thing that comes to mind when listening to Bruce Springsteen's "Radio Nowhere" single is Tommy Tutone's chart-topping "867-5309/Jenny" -- the chord progression is the exact same. Fortunately the song escapes the connection as soon as the Boss starts chanting. This is perhaps the most powerful track in more than a decade from the E-Street Band, and I imagine it's going to rip live.
This is the E-Street band in top form. Clarence Clemons blows furiously into a giant wall of sound provided by the rhythm section of Max Weinberg (who shows more emotion in this video than I've ever seen him show) and Garry Tallent, not to mention the gorgeous droning guitar tones of Nils Lofgren. And take a look at the Boss -- we can only hope we look that good in our late fifties. "Radio Nowhere" will be on Springsteen's upcoming record, Magic, scheduled for an October 2 release on Columbia.
