This track from Ben Harper & the Innocent Criminals' forthcoming LP Lifeline feels very, very comfortable. Maybe too comfortable - Harper's been playing shambling grooves and singing his simple songs of uplift for over a decade now, and even though the shoe still fits great, it's wearing through pretty quick. Still there's a laid back charm to that signature guitar shuffle, the Motown bass line sounds happy even at half-speed, and Harper's distinctive voice will forever keep Jack Johnson eating his dust. Lifeline comes out on August 27.
