Intro music. It feels like Band of Horses is building up to something altogether grander when the drums and disto pedals kick in on "Is There a Ghost," but turns out the entire thing was just an afterthought, tasteful repetition until coda. "I could sleep/ I could slee-eep/ when I lived alone/ Is there a ghost in my house?" No ghosts here, but maybe an estranged relationship? Singer Ben Bridwell's hyper-melodic phrasing and his band's Joshua Tree hugeness make the track as equally immediate as inconsequential, and I enjoyed the ride while it lasted.Check out the track, which kicks off BoH's upcoming Cease to Begin, on the band's MySpace page.
