Electropop heartbreaker Tracey Thorn will release Love and Its Opposite on May 18 on her new home, Merge Records. Ewan Person returns as producer - he also worked on her last album, Out of The Woods, which came out on Astralwerks. Hot Chip’s Al Doyle and Courtney Tidwell, who herself had a surprise single with Pearson a couple years ago, are also guests. To make things even dreamier, Jens Lekman sings with Thorn on a cover of Lee Hazlewood’s “Come On Home To Me” and there's also a reading of The Unbending Trees’ “You Are a Lover.”
Thorn was originally in Everything But The Girl, which released the widely acclaimed Walking Wounded in 1996. She also sang on Massive Attack's "Protection," a languid track that gave new meaning to the idea of music for a rainy day.
If you can't wait to hear the new album, the single "Oh, The Divorces" is available for free download on her official website, if you sign up for the mailing list.
