Chances are, if you read this site with any regularity you can remember when the Tower Records you used to go to closed in 2006. Poor sales and management problems forced the company and its founder Russell Solomon to close 93 locations that year, but thanks to the Center for Sacramento History, Tower Records will receive its own digital archive called The Tower Archive
"over 200 boxes of Tower-related history — artwork, photographs, memorabilia, awards, business records and correspondence, office furnishings and even the neon signs from the first stand-alone store."
Although it sounds like the digital archive is the biggest goal of the project, much of the memorabilia, including former-customer submitted objects, will tour the country as an exhibit and could possibly find a permanent home in a museum. If you live near Sacramento, stop by the launch event on Thursday
and bring any Tower merch you may have held onto. [Spin
