Anyone that can come up with a clever tortoise/hare pun for this story is a wittier man than me. It's been five years since Tortoise's last full-length dropped, which is a pretty long time to wait--even with The Sea and Cake's excellent Car Alarm to tide us over in the interim. But at long last, the wait is over. Beacons of Ancestorship , Tortoise's sixth LP, is set to be released June 23 via Thrill Jockey. And as a small taste of things to come, the first track off the album will be released as part of Thrill Jockey's Records Toreism comp on Record Store Day, April 18.
