Pink Floyd top list of bands that need to reunite

The Pink FloydShoutmouth.com has just released a list of its picks for 25 legendary bands that should reunite that's sure to spark some fisticuffs. Some of the better entries include Soundgarden, Talking Heads, Eric B. and Rakim and Hüsker Dü; more "who cares" territory is Stone Temple Pilots, John Mayall's Bluesbreakers, Phish and the "real" Smashing Pumpkins. I say Led Zeppelin makes more sense at number one; I was alive the last time Pink Floyd were together (OK, maybe if you count resurrecting the original lineup with zombie Syd Barrett). And hey, where's the Electric Light Orchestra? Of course, this is all just a matter of opinion '' who do you think they wrongly left off?

woah, yeah, blur totally got left off. I'd say stone roses too. i guess i'm more disposed towards letting the legacy of disbanded groups rest peacefully, but bands that still could be relevant would be interesting...

The Clash, with Zombie Joe, and definitely Pink Floyd provided there's a Zombie Syd. Also, the Make-Up need to get back together, because their shift to Weird War hasn't been nearly as good.

I don't understand why they didn't just keep this in the realm of the real and stick to bands whose original members are still alive. First of all with Pink Floyd, there'd be no Syd, which sure their most well known stuff was done without him, but "most well known" doesn't always mean best. Secondly, Pink Floyd at Live 8 was just sad. They even looked bored to be going through the motions. They sounded so antiseptic--sure, not a missed note, but not a single surprise either. That's not rock and roll.Glad to see they included Neutral Milk Hotel. It would be the be all and end all of this Don't Look Back concert series if they would get back together and perform In the Aeroplane in its entirety. I'd put good money on Pavement getting back together pretty soon here.My left offs would have to be Galaxie 500 and Spacemen 3.

I totally made up the part about zombie Syd; they were talking about the Roger Waters' rejoined version of Floyd. If anything, this list does strike me as a little obvious; spacemen 3, galaxie 500, pulp, atdi, blur would've all been a little more interesting/controversial picks...

actually, i nominate that the next band which reforms despite having disbanded years ago gets sent on an extended tour of the interior of australia. this nonsense needs to stop, post-haste. our culture's current obsession with the relentless canonization of music relics from the past decades is totally handicapping the hard work of pioneering musicians today. the last thing i want to read is another glorification of some recently "discovered" musical genius who was tragically unappreciated in their own time only to be transformed into another modern pop-commodity. the truth is that so much attention is focused on music which has already passed by that more genuinely talented contemporary artists are sliding completely out of view because they don't fit neatly into some "indie" media-approved evolutionary timeline. for real. pitchfork and rolling stone are equally complicit in their construction and worship of rock dinosaurs. also, most bands are old, and should stick to reading AARP and trying not to break their hips in the shower.

not going to "well actually" you, mr. jerkface, but i will warn you that one day when you are old and worrying if your next shower will be your last, you may eat these words.
