Tom Waits to release three-disc Orphans

The one and only Tom Waits has announced plans for a three-disc, 54-track release entiled Orphans: Brawlers, Bawlers and Bastards. Set for release November 21 on Anti, Orphans will include a 94-page booklet and will feature both new material and songs that were previously used for cinematic or theatrical projects. These include covers of artists including The Ramones, Daniel Johnston and Leadbelly among others.

Heres what Waits had to say about the release:

Orphans are rough and tender tunes. Rhumbas about mermaids, shuffles about trainwrecks, tarantellas about insects, madrigrals about drowning, says Waits. Scared, mean, orphans songs of rapture and melancholy. Songs that grew up hard. Songs of dubious origin rescued from cruel fate and now left wanting only to be cared for. Show that you are not afraid and take them home. They dont bite, they just need attention.
