Tom Waits has been busy of late—he recently made a rare acting performance in Terry Gilliam’s The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus, and now it appears as though his music will be making it to the stage. A Dutch theater group named Orkater has announced it will use Waits’s music to soundtrack its staging of Shakespeare’s Richard III.
Waits is notoriously fussy about licensing his music, so he must have been suitably impressed by the work of Orkater, who will stage the production from Sept. 22 through Oct. 12 in Amsterdam. Among the songs featured in this version of Richard III will be “I Don’t Want to Grow Up,” “Misery Is the River of the World” and “I’ll Shoot the Moon.”
More details on the production are available here.
