Tom Waits undertook a tour across the Midwestern United States last summer, deliberately ignoring the two coasts. The tour was named Glitter & Doom, and was announced via a bizarre press conference (see video clip below). Now, Waits is set to release a live album of the shows, titled Tom Waits: Glitter & Doom Live.
"Yeah, it's coming out at Thanksgiving," Waits revealed to CBC Radio. "A lot of applause, followed by a song, and after the song there's more applause, and then there's a song. And it goes like that all the way through." The album will be released on Anti-, although no details about the tracklisting are available.
His band for the Glitter & Doom tour consisted of Omar Torrez (guitars), Seth Ford-Young (upright bass), Patrick Warren (keyboards), Vincent Henry (woodwinds) and Casey Waits (drums and percussion). Waits is also about to appear in the new Terry Gilliam film, The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus.
