The latest inductees into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame are expected to be announced this morning, but the New York Times has already got the scoop on who will receive that dubious honor. Alice Cooper, Neil Diamond, Tom Waits, Dr. John, and Darlene Love are the artists that Ben Sisario believes will be included in the lineup.
There’s little doubt that all of the above are deserving of inclusion, and it will certainly be interesting to see what Mssrs. Waits and Cooper have planned for the ceremony on March 14 at the Waldorf-Astoria hotel in New York (assuming they show up). But anyone expecting hip-hop to be recognized will be left empty handed, which is particularly disappointing as the Beastie Boys were a rumored inclusion this time.
