The Bird and The Bee is the duo of Inara George, a local chanteuse who has one album to her own name and collaborates with many other Angeleno musicians in numerous projects, and Greg Kurstin, a local session keyboardist and producer who'''s played with No Doubt and Beck. After generating some buzz in the Echo Park/Silver Lake scenester corridors, the band interestingly signed to Blue Note, famous for its unbroken string of jazz masterpieces in the 60s. But after a few listens to their music, the fit doesn'''t seem that odd: B&B make glowing, charming, '''60s-throwback chamber pop. Their long-awaited, self-titled debut finally hits stores January 23rd. Opening is Mike Andrews, the man behind Elgin Park Recordings, the instrumental work for Donnie Darko and Me and You and Everyone We Know, and the crisp production on George'''s All Rise.
