Today's L.A. Events Preview: John Waters

Break out the eggs '' camp king John Waters is heading down to Amoeba for the release of A Date with John Waters, the Valentine'''s Day complement to A John Waters Christmas. In typical Waters fashion, the love celebration will include classic tracks of kitsch (Josie Cotton'''s ''"Johnny Are You Queer?''" is always a goody) and appearances by the ladies who'''ve frequented his films, Edith Massey and Mink Stole. The compilation'''s supposed to be a mix John himself would use to seduce you, were the two of you on a convenient at-home date, but seeing as he'''s going to be doing an in-store signing, you can probably ask for his personal approval to play the CD during the seduction of someone else, at your own home. He'''s a nice guy, he'''ll understand. As he mentioned during his talk at Royce Hall last December, if this release fares well, he'''ll eventually plan to release a follow-up, Breaking Up With John Waters. Happy Valentine'''s Week! (CB)
