E.A.R. @ Silverlake Lounge, 1/20Peter Kember'''s been known by as many names over the course of his career as Diddy. Well, almost. As Sonic Boom, he was one-third of seminal British drone-rockers Spacemen 3 (which also included Jason Pierce, a.k.a. J. Spaceman, now of Spiritualized) and still sometimes plays in the band Spectrum. As E.A.R. (acronym for Experimental Audio Research), Kember puts on solo performances in which he manipulates all manner of madcap machinery. He'''s been know to crowd the stage with Theremins, various synthesizers, and even kiddie toys like Speak-and-Says. As much a performance artist as he is a musician, Kember names John Cage in the same list of influences that he does Brian Eno. Also on the bill are like-minded noisemakers Fuxa, a Motor City-based duo with much of the car-crazy mechanics of Kraftwerk in their sound, and the great-named LSD and the Search for God. I'''m sure that moniker tells you all you need to know about their sound. (JZ)
