Ting Tings ask to be dropped from label

The Ting Tings (you know them from the most recent iPod commercials) are currently lighting up the British soundwaves with their debut album We Started Nothing (it hits these shores on June 3). And now, the band is demanding (jokingly, of course)

Columbia Records drop them immediately from their contract. Why? Because the band feels that they won’t have anything to write about now that their album is a hit.

Apparently, both the band’s members were in a band called Dear Eskiimo that got dropped before they could release a second album, and they feel it helped them creatively in Ting Tings.

Pretty bold move for a band that’s only been on anyone’s mind for three weeks. [NME]

That's awfully puntworthy of them.
