Tindersticks return with The Hungry Saw

Following a 5-year hiatus, Nottingham's fine-suited suitors Tindersticks will return this fall with their seventh album The Hungry Saw. Released in the UK by Beggars Banquet in April, the album will surface in North America on September 16, courtesy of Constellation, a label that shares the band's affinity for violins and cellos.

The three remaining original members--the inconsolably mopey Stuart Staples, David Boulter, and Neil Fraser--wrote the album together and recorded it with backing musicians over 8 days at Staples' Le Chien Chanceux studio in France. The band's previous album, Waiting for the Moon, was released in 2003; 2006 saw the departure of of members Dickon Hinchliffe, Al Macaulay, and Mark Colwill. Hinchliffe was responsible for the band's signature string and brass arrangements, so The Hungry Saw may mark a new direction for the group.
