"Timeless" concert series features Madlib, Cut Chemist

Rarely do you see sample-based hip-hop artists playing shows with the artists they've sampled. This spring in LA, "Timeless, the Composer/Arranger Series" aims to pay tribute to the originators of classic samples. The concerts feature DJs Madlib, Cut Chemist, and Egon alongside classic composers such as David Axelrod and Mulatu Astatke. On the last of the evenings, David Axelrod, the composer Dr. Dre sampled for "The Next Episode," will perform with a 26-piece orchestra. Put on by promoters Mochilla and ArtDontSleep, the series runs on Sunday evenings from February 1st to April 5th at the Luckman Fine Arts complex in LA. [HipHopDX]
