Superstar beatmaker Timothy Mosley (better known as Timbaland) has stated in no uncertain terms that he plans to quit music in the near future. "What's the reason?" you might ask. Does he want to start a family? Nope. Focus on his acting career? Uh-uh. Did he find Jesus? Nah, not this time. According to Timbaland himself: "Music is boring right now. I'm too innovative for the world." Wow, would you like some sour grapes with your hubris, Mr. Mosley? I think we all know that Timbaland's cache has taken a bit of a nosedive after his recent work with Bjork, plus his solo release Shock Value, were met with mixed reviews. Maybe Mosley's just reading the writing on the wall, humbly realizing that his time has passed. Or maybe not: "I've been doing it so long, I'm about to throw in the towel. I'm about to de-crown myself and pass it over to one of the up-and-coming producers under me." Timbaland to quit? 'I'm bored of your Earth music' (Drowned In Sound)
well he did have a cameo on the WWE and i think he was accused of roughing a guy up in germany or something. maybe he's going to become a pro wrestler.

...or maybe danja always did all the heavy lifting and is tired of not getting all the credit.danja > storch

"Shock Value" certainly isn't making me jump up and scream "NO!!!" That record is trash...
BTW
He's retiring for the same reason all of us regular people retire when we get old: because we get sick of making and doing the same thing over and over and over and over and over and over ...

Does the fact that every Timbaland beat sounds great to me mean that I don't listen to enough hip-hop?
Etan Rosenbloom
etan.. yes. and timbo said the exact same thing concerning hip-hop a few years ago, how it was boring and such. didnt believe it then, dont believe it now. "i'm overflowing with ambition, but i've got to keep in mind the bottom line is the dollar signs" emphasis on the $$$
Michael
Seems like Timbo's getting together with Bjork was his last pit stop on Earth (just barely still there...) before going off to another planet... To my non-hip-hop listening ears I still hear some pretty cool stuff in his production, and I thought his work on the Timberlake album was just F***ing amazing. Maybe he just needs to put more of those skills to work outside of the hip-hop circles. Is the Duran Duran thing true??!??
