Thriller Close to Overtaking Eagles Atop Sales Chart, Ending Reign of Dilettante Greatest Hits Buyers

Winslow, Arizona lost a little bit luster of today, as the RIAA confirmed that Michael Jackson's Thriller is riding a wave of nostalgia to the top of the all-time sales chart. The album, which was certified platinum for the twenty-eighth time in March was already just behind the Eagles' Their Greatest Hits 1971-1975, will benefit increased demand due to Jackson's untimely death and overtake Don Henly, Joe Walsh and boys some time in the next couple of months. The only possible stumbling block in Thriller's march to the top is Jackson's own greatest hits collection, Number Ones, whose increase in sales has outpaced even that of Thriller. [Billboard]

Well, also out is news the Jackson 5 stayed in Winslow in the summer in the 60s. So I guess Winslow will do ok.
