‘Thor: The Dark World’ Will Star Actors From ‘Batman Begins,’ ‘Game of Thrones’

It appears that birds of a fantasy feather flock together. The Thor sequel Thor: The Dark World will feature two new actors, Richard Brake and Clive Russell, both of whom have starred in popular fantasy franchises. Brake played Joe Chill, the killer of Bruce Wayne’s parents in Batman Begins. Russell will star as Ser Brynden the Blackfish in the new season of Game of Thrones and has also acted as Captain Tanner in the Sherlock Holmes films.

Deadline reports that Russell will play Thor’s older brother Tyr, and Brake will play a captain of Einherjar, a team fighting with Thor.

It has already been announced that the sequel will also feature Christopher Eccleston, who played the ninth Doctor on Doctor Who, as the villain Malekith. Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje, who played Mr. Eko on the sci-fi mystery series Lost, will also star in the sequel. It looks like the new film is becoming quite a who’s who of fantasy and sci-fi actors.

The new installment in the franchise will be directed by Alan Taylor and is set to for release on Nov. 8, 2013. It will feature returning actors Chris Hemsworth, Idris Elba, Natalie Portman, Tom Huddleston and Anthony Hopkins. The movie has already been filming for several weeks.
