Thom Yorke played a solo set at the Big Chill this past weekend, and slipped a new Radiohed song into the setlist. Nothing goes undocumented these days, especially if you play in one of the biggest bands in the world, so above is a decent quality audience recording of the song, which is titled “Give Up the Ghost.”
Yorke announced the title and introduced it as a new Radiohead song, and although he has played it before, it’s never been clarified whether this was a new solo song or otherwise. If the recorded version ends up sounding like this, it will be one of the barest songs the band has ever recorded, with the sparse, disquieting nature of the track positioning it close to Talk Talk’s landmark Laughing Stock album.
