Franz Ferdinand frontman Alex Kapranos has told BBC 6 Music that their long delayed third album has been, yes you guessed it, delayed again. The album was originally going to feature production from pop giants Xenomania (Girls Aloud, Sugababes), contains a much-vaunted African influence, and was previewed at a tiny London show just a few days ago. Kapranos has stated that they have “quite a bit of mixing to do” on the record, which has now been put back to 2009. Will it ever see the light of day? Comparisons to the Stone Roses’ second album, Second Coming, and My Bloody Valentine’s Loveless follow-up will start to creep in soon. The band will be playing a few songs from its third album at the following U.K. venues. [Drowned in Sound]
