Despite a recent run of three intimate London gigs that produced some unendurably tantalizing footage of previously unheard material, the xx have remained tight-lipped over a new record. But today Rodaidh McDonald, producer of the band’s Mercury Prize-snatching debut, has suggested that fans might not have too long to wait for the English group’s feverishly anticipated second LP and that he will once again be overseeing production.
Speaking on Twitter, McDonald said: “final mixing The xx album 2 starting today yesss.” The tweet has subsequently been deleted, which could mean either that the band’s cloak and dagger act will continue a little longer, or that they are preparing a more official, more concrete announcement about the new album.
While we await further news you can watch the xx playing one of their new untitled songs at the Battersea Arts Centre on Frdiay below. [Fact]
