The Who Announce North American Tour Dates

It’s nearing its 40-year anniversary, but the Who’s Quadrophenia still stands as an undeniable classic of English rock. Now, the legendary band (at least, the two remaining members) will be bringing their 1973 rock opera on the road–and they’ll be swinging by the United States for the first time in years.

Roger Daltrey and Pete Townshend announced in a digital press conference that the epic 36-date tour will be an elaborate multimedia production similar to what Roger Waters has been doing with The Wall lately. Accompanied by six additional musicians, including Ringo Starr’s son and Townshend’s younger brother, the Who will kick off their U.S. journey in Florida this November and tour all the way into February of 2013. While the tour will focus on Quadrophenia, the band will perform material from throughout their career.

Tickets for the Quadrophenia tour will go on sale July 27, although some will be available for pre-sale as early as July 20. Daltrey also confirmed that he will perform in the finale of the Olympics closing ceremony. [Paste]
