The White Stripes To Release New Live DVD, Seven-Inch

Just because the White Stripes are officially defunct doesn’t mean they don’t still care about their fans. Following 2010’s Under Great White Northern Lights, a new DVD from the band is linearly titled Under Great New Zealand Lights and will premiere as the 12th installment in the Vault subscription series offered by Jack White’s ever-creative Third Man Records.

The DVD will feature footage of two of the band’s relatively early New Zealand gigs: one from Auckland’s King’s Arms in November 2000, the other from the same city’s Freeman’s Bay Primary School in October 2003. Additionally, the disc will be packaged alongside a seven-inch single of previously unreleased tracks “Open Your Eyes” b/w “You Make a Fool Out of Me,” both from the Raconteurs’ Consolers of the Lonely sessions. Jack White’s debut solo album, Blunderbuss, premieres April 23 via Third Man. Also, Josh Eells’ New York Times White profile is worth your time.
