
British indie-rock favorites The Wedding Present toured the Bizarro album a few years back, and now they’re shifting their focus forward a few years to play Seamonsters in its entirety. The album was originally released in 1991 and recorded by Steve Albini, who helped the group fashion some spikier edges out of their sound.
Of particular note was the single “Dalliance,” which discarded the “jangly” aesthetic the band was known for, replacing it with a loud-quiet-loud dynamic reminiscent of American bands like the Pixies and Slint. Clearly getting Albini on board—who had worked with both those acts—was a shrewd move.
The Seasmonsters tour will hit North American shores in March and April of next year, including a few shows at SXSW. The full set of dates look like this:
