Before the War on Drugs released the very good Future Weather EP last fall, it had been a minute since we previously heard from the Philadelphia group. They released their attention-grabbing full-length debut, Wagonwheel Blues, in 2008. And that same year, three members of the band — Kurt Vile, Charlie Hall, and Kyle Lloyd — left to pursue other endeavors. But the War on Drugs will return this August with their proper sophomore effort, Slave Ambient, which features 12 new tracks from the group. You can check out one of those cuts, “Baby Missiles,” at Pitchfork.
Slave Ambient drops Aug. 16.
