The War on Drugs are gearing up to release their sophomore album, Slave Ambient, next month on vinyl, CD, and cassette. And before you scoff at the thought of a new album dropping on cassette, maybe you'll think differently once you learn that the B-side to the tape will feature six unreleased tracks from the band. They're all handled by War on Drugs' Adam Granduciel, who crafted six ambient pieces that isolate specific sounds heard on Slave Ambient. And two days after the album drops, the band will hit the road for a lengthy jaunt that runs through part of November. They'll be joined on tour by bands like Porcelain Raft, Caves, and Carter Tanton.
Slave Ambient drops Aug. 16. You can view the tour dates below and stream "Baby Missiles" here. Photo by Graham Tolbert.

Definitely looking forward to seeing these guys again, great live band.Tanton is also great live. Also, not to nitpick, but the War on Drugs isn't really Kurt Vile's band, right? He used to play as part of them -- and members often tour as part of his band -- but he's not really an official member anymore.
Thanks for the catch, Matt. Ugh. My bad.
