The Very Best Announce Debut Album, The Warm Heart of Africa

· by

The Very Best, the not at all facetious name of the collaboration between African singer Esau Mwamwaya and British DJ Radioclit, have announced they will be releasing a full-length album, titled The Warm Heart of Africa, later this year (there's no firm release date as of yet). The album is the follow-up to their most excellent mixtape, Esau Mwamwaya and Radioclit Are The Very Best, which is still available for free download here (here's a link to a really great song from the mixtape, "Dinosaur on the Ark").

Like the mixtape, Warm Heart will feature collaborations with a who's who of indie rock, including Vampire Weekend's Ezra Koenig and M.I.A. (who did this song on the mixtape).

The jittery and percussive first single from Warm Heart, "Ntende Uli," is streaming now at Green Owl. In the meantime, The Very Best have a short string of tour dates to attend to, including stops at Oya, Pitchfork and Roskilde festivals.

Here they are:

07.04 Roskilde, Denmark: Roskilde Festival
07.16 Los Angeles, CA: The Echoplex
07.17 San Francisco, CA: Mighty
07.18 New York, NY: Le Poisson Rouge
07.19 Chicago, IL: Pitchfork Music Festival
08.15 Oslo, Norway: Øya Festival
