Beloved Brit-pop band The Verve are known almost as much for the break-ups than they are for their music, and that ain't going to change any time soon. The band has announced that they are splitting for the third time, as guitarist Nick McCabe and bassist Simon Jones have left to start a new band called the Black Ships, after they became certain that lead singer Richard Ashcroft was using the band's most recent comeback album, Forth, as a way to increase interest in his solo albums. The Verve previously broke up in the mid-'90s before recording their best album, Urban Hymns, and broke up again afterward when band turmoil flared up over the band getting sued for using an uncleared Rolling Stones sample in "Bittersweet Symphony."
