Things seem to be on schedule for the recording of the Strokes' fourth album. Despite numerous side projects and other commitments, the five members are due to convene in New York next month, as planned, to start recording the follow-up to 2006's First Impressions of the Earth.
Talking to the BBC, Fabrizio Moretti said that Julian Casablancas and guitarist Nick Valensi are currently writing new material for the album. But, he explained, the five of them will need to work on the material together, "We’re the kind of band that it’s not finished until everyone’s in one room and everyone’s got their parts perfectly. We’re a very mechanical band."
Moretti also said that he hoped he'd be able to carry on with Little Joy while recording the new Strokes album, ""Hopefully time will lay itself down, not linearly, but in a mesh form so that I can slip through the holes and come down to the Little Joy timeline and jump back up to The Strokes timeline."
Asked when fans will be able to hear some of this new material, Moretti was noncommittal: "It might be in a couple of months, it might be in a year." [BBC]

I'm not sure why, but I think this album will be a big departure from their previous albums. I like the Little Joy stuff I heard.
