The Strokes Are Possibly (Maybe) Playing SxSW

The Strokes are seemingly back (if only because they need to “pay [their] mortgage,” per guitarist Nick Valensi), and that means a lot of new music is coming down the pike: A new 10-song album, Angles, is on the way, and a new single, “Under Cover of Darkness,” will be available free from The Strokes website at some point today. To boot, the band will be playing live dates soon, including an already confirmed Coachella appearance. Add to that a possible cameo at this year’s SxSW. There’s nothing official yet, but manager Ryan Gentles stoked rumor fires with a recent tweet that suggested the band might appear at the Austin festival.

"SXSW - The Strokes… more to come on thestrokes.com"

And that, literally, is all he wrote.

The music portion of SxSW is from March 16-20, so expect to know for certain sooner than later. Angles, btw, is out March 21 in the U.K. and a day later in the U.S. [DIY]
