The Simpsons premiered its 24th season last night, and to celebrate, the folks behind the landmark cartoon have announced a very special contest. In a new TV spot, executive producers Al Jean and James L. Brooks announce the “Couch Gag Contest,” which will “bring meaning to your lives and ours.”
Jean and Brooks are calling for fans to submit detailed written ideas for a new Simpsons couch gag (the ever-changing intro to each episode). The winning submission will then be animated by the Simpsons staff and aired with the season finale later this year. Watch that promo and another, where the Simpsons themselves explain the contest, below.
