Track Review: The Shins - "A Comet Appears" [Wincing The Night Away]

"A Comet Appears" isn't neccessarily a good representation of Wincing The Night Away's sound, but it's damn sure pretty. James Mercer swings for the "New Slang" fences here and comes awfully close. Lyrically he's imaginative as ever, with lines like " But the lonely are such delicate things/ The wind from a wasp could blow them/ into the sea/ with stones on their feet/ lost to the light and the loving weak." This song probably won't change your life, but it just might help you get through a bad day.
Edit: Easy come, easy go....

I hear this song and I hear Neil Young. It is so close lyically and musically to to his pre-CSNY, and I wonder if Shins were in some way inspired. It is very good, and is one of those melodies that go through your head all day long, for days.
