By we I, of course, mean The Shins, and by number two I'm, naturally, referring to Wincing The Night Away's spot on the Billboard 200 after its release last week. All in all, the album sold 118,000 copies its first week, missing out on the top spot by a mere 14,000 copies. This is far and away the highest debut week for a Sub Pop album ever, so congrats go out to them and The Shins. Welcome to the big time guys, where public meltdowns, cocaine addictions and VH1 specials are sure to follow!
We're #2!! We're #2!!

Hey Josh, so far you've trashed Arcade Fire and the Shins. What do you like? |
| josh |
But you forgot Helmet too. I actually like the Shins, but they haven't "changed my life" or anything. Sure they are growing musically and everything but not exactly in a direction I'd like to follow. Arcade fire, well I'll keep that one to myself because everyone seems to like them. If you or anyone can explain to me why Arcade Fire is so great I'd appreciate it. Because I have their album and I've listened to it a few times and never seem to care to listen to it again. |

I always end up defending Arcade Fire. Basically I really like them because they're one of the few bands right now that make epic, non-replicable music in the "indie rock" world. They don't sound like anyone else and there's a lot going on in their songs. I've liked other popular "indie" bands, but I find that they sound so much like past and even other current bands. |

Yeah Dave that is true. Funny because the Shins sound like alot of bands I really listen to alot right now such as Band of Horses, My Morning Jacket, and Built to Spill(maybe a stretch) But yeah it they are a new sound. So Someone threw a Tom Vek Cd on my desk at work and I like him because I think its alot different then shit i've heard in a while. right on.. |

We won! We won! Woo-hoo! Where's my Indie Rock Victory Check?! I've been supporting indie for years. |

I think Islands are another band that does stuff that is a lot different than the other bands out there.I think your Built To Spill example is a stretch though. |

I'm not saying they should have sold their music for garden state, but I understand. |
| Adrian Covert |
the garden state soundtrack opened my eyes to real indie acts like coldplay. |

Sheppard, you're such an asshole. Always picking on The Shins. "Wah wah," the little baby says, "I don't like Marty Crandandiddly's music taste!" And now yr all going, "These guys suck! Couldn't even get to #1 on the fucking Billboard!" Get off yr high horse, J-Shepp!!!!!!!!!!11111111111 |

Shouldn't this post be about Pretty Ricky? They were #1.
