The Roots and their upcoming How I Got Over LP continue to make headlines as of late. First, we learned that Jim James and Joanna Newsom, the latter as both a sample and a featured vocalist, would be appearing on the Philly hip-hop crew's record. And thenHow I Got Over received what's being pushed as a firm release date of June 22 -- I have a hard time believing this -- along with album art. There's also that covers project between The Roots and John Legend scheduled to drop this fall.
Now, the track list for How I Got Over has been released and it boasts big names from the hip-hop underground and indie-rock sphere. And, I hate to continue to be skeptical, but this doesn't look finished to me at all. Only nine tracks? I mean, I can understand it if a few of these cuts are longer, especially the reworked version of Monster of Folks' "Dear God." But I'm thinking this isn't complete and that it's at least missing a few of those interludes featuring Dirty Projectors that Questlove has been tweeting about recently.
May 21 update: OkayPlayer, the site The Roots call home, has an updated track list. But it's not the final version because all the interludes will be separate tracks (told ya!).

holy guests!
BT, Dice Raw and Phonte on a track will be plush.
im stoked to see blu on here. Saw him in LA about three years back and was blown away. I enjoyed his solo record and the Johnson & Johnson LP but I still don't feel he's hit his stride. Good to see him getting some MC time via an east coast hip-hop staple...
Yo A, maybe the tracks are padded with the interludes... Either way, this track list is sexy. I can't wait.
Good point about the interludes being within those cuts, but I can't help being skeptical, ha. And yes, I cannot wait to hear those tracks with Blu.
for the love of god, enough already with the UNKLE ad!!

Yeah, definitely excited about the Blu tracks. And the 'Te tracks. And that Monsters of Folk track with the SICK beat. And the Mercedes Martinez tracks too, for that matter. Yeah, I'm a Roots stan.
