In what is sure to be to one of the silliest rallies to ever befall Washington D.C. (second only to whatever Glenn Beck did a little while ago), John Stewart, Steven Colbert and an estimated 60,000 people will descend upon our nation's capital for The Rally to Restore Sanity/Fear.
Of course, what would this party be without a little music? The Roots are scheduled to welcome ralliers with a forty minute set at noon. Later, Mavis Staples and collaborator Jeff Tweedy will play a ten minute set, followed by a little tune from Sheryl Crow at noon. So, if you thought this rally was all politics/comedy, you would be wrong.
Later, there are some mystery guests on the schedule. Our friends at Consequence of Sound are banking on an appearance from none other than Bruce Springsteen. We see their Boss, and raise them a hopeful guitar-off rematch between the Decemberists and Mr. Colbert. Either way, it's going to be an awesome time, and you're probably kicking yourself for not budgeting for a spontaneous trip to D.C. You can watch the rally live Saturday on Comedy Central or stream it from their website.
