The Roots Compose Score for 'Night Catches Us'

It's only appropriate that the Roots, who have repped the hell out of their hometown of Philadelphia from the jump, have scored a film set in the city in 1976. Night Catches Us depicts the homecoming of a former Black Panther, Marcus, played by Anthony Mackie, who is known for his role in The Hurt Locker. Once returning to Philly, he at first deals with suspicious family members and former neighbors before things apparently get salty with his former organization. The Roots' involvement in the film goes beyond the soundtrack, too, as frontman Black Thought (Tariq Trotter) acts in Night Catches Us alongside Mackie and co-star Kerry Washington.
