The pope, as in The Pope pope, Benedict XVI has announced he has finally decided to sign with a major label, Geffen, which will release his debut LP, Alma Mater, on Nov. 30. The album features the pope's chants and prayers over eight classical compostions, and features guest performances from Hell Rell, Slash, Louie Anderson and Ezra Koenig of Vampire Weekend (only one half of that sentence is true).
The pope will record Alma Mater, and its first single "Straight Outta Vatican (Pope Mobile)," at Abbey Road Studios with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra in London. Expect a tasteful video similar to Dr. Dre's "The Next Episode" with appearances from nuns and communion wine next month (only one part of that paragraph was true, and it involved the studio).
Seriously though, The Pope has a record dropping in November. It makes me think of this:
What is this, The Onion?
I know, I had the fight the urge to make it completely false. But seriously, he really is putting out an album.
You can't fight your urges Andross.
