The Pogues' Shane MacGowan to Star in Gardening Show

It’s around this time of year that the Pogues’ “Fairytale of New York” is dragged out for a fresh airing. The song is such a staple in the U.K. that the BBC even made a documentary about it, but Pogues singer Shane MacGowan has other things on his mind during this year’s festive season.

MacGowan is set to host his own gardening show with longtime partner Victoria Mary Clarke. The show is titled Victoria and Shane Grow Their Own, and follows their attempts to grow their own vegetables. While this might not sound like the most interesting premise for a show, anything involving the notoriously erratic MacGowan has got to be worth watching.

Victoria quickly reveals that she doesn’t have many skills in the garden and Shane is busy preparing for a summer tour as the show begins. Expect mayhem to ensue. Their attempts to live off the vegetables they grow will be aired in Ireland on RTE One on Dec. 8, and sadly no other broadcasts are anticipated at the present time. Surely someone will service YouTube with a copy of this classic-in-the-making?
