The Nirvana Well is Dry

Grunge grave-robbers will have to content themselves with searching for the leftovers of Layne Staley or Andrew Wood, as erstwhile Nirvana bassist Krist Novoselic has informed the world at large that there are no more unheard morsels lurking in the vaults of his former band. As part of a lengthy interview for an oral-history project that can be viewed in its entirety here, Novoselic confirmed that the Nirvana ephemera compiled for the band's 2004 box set With the Lights Out represented the last barrel scrapings from the group's archives. "There's not going to be any new Nirvana records," he said, effectively ending the pipe dreams of legions of flannel-fixated fans. There is a bright side to the scenario though, as Novoselic went on to observe "What there is, is video...there's a lot of video." So, while he didn't mention any plans for releasing those videos anytime soon, maybe Nirvana obsessives who need something to do can start priming their DVD players, just in case.

I don't know. There's always "more:" live shows, bootleg randomness, spoken word...as long as we keep buying there will always be more archive material to pop up.

You just know there's a Kurt Cobain-Courtney Love sex tape lurking somewhere. That will be a sad day for us all.

Damn it. How am I supposed to sleep now, EStan? You're a real jerk, ya know?

I'm sorry, drivera. Trust me, I am. If such a tape does arise, the only therapy I can think of is watching Kurt and Dave Grohl make out on the SNL set, just to remind you of the good old days.
