In what is inevitably an effort to curb reports of 15 year old girls suffocating in MDMA comas, New Jersey’s version of commercial-rave’s widely popular Electric Daisy Carnival will be restricted to participants 18 and older. As raves have made their curious resurgence in mainstream viability, so has the fear of club-drugs – it’s given the folks at EDC a pretty nasty PR spat. I suppose this is a step in the right direction, but as long as ecstasy is a taboo it’ll be an uphill battle. There’s occasionally been talk from politicians of banning sponsored raves all-together, which would inevitably send them back to the warehouse with no security or free water or anything. Just my two cents. [The Daily Swarm]
