The National Review Slams "Vile" Best Song Grammy Nominees

For some unknown reason, everyone’s favorite right leaning biweekly the National Review had its interest piqued by the Grammy nominations for Best Song this year. Columnist Dennis Prager has penned a lengthy column about the awards, in which he takes exception to Cee-lo’s “Fuck You,” pointing out that “the video of this song includes children who appear to be under 12 years of age, and all the performers are black.”

Prager claims MTV “should be singled out for the damage it has done to America,” although he appears to be acting under the mistaken belief that the network is still showing music videos. He also fingers the music industry for spreading moral corruption across the land, because he believes it is populated by “people who regard social and cultural norms as stifling.”

He further elaborates on his hatered for “Fuck You,” saying the lyrics are “as vapid as they are obscene; the video further degrades that part of black life that is already too lacking in elevation; and there is the participation of children in a profanity-filled video.” Prager also lashes out at Eminem and Jay-Z (“vile”) but almost admits to some surprising fandom for B.o.B’s “Nothin’ On You” (“something of a melody behind it”) before showing his true colors and outing himself as a Lady Antebellum fan (“a lovely song”).

Prager's article says so much more about NRO, and conservatism in general, than it does about the state of music, or Cee-Lo, or MTV, or the decay of modern American culture, or any of a host of other things he attempts to touch on.

What does Dennis Prager have to say about the profanities, anti-Semitic , and bigoted statements by the not-so happy Conservative Resident Richard Nixon? He has said noting.
"Basically, Rose, most of our Jewish friends . . . they are all basically people who have a sense of inferiority and have got to compensate,";
"The Jews are just a very aggressive and abrasive and obnoxious personality.";
"I don't want any Jew at that dinner who didn't support us in that campaign," he said. "Is that clear? No Jew who did not support us.";
“I didn’t notice many Jewish names coming back from Vietnam on any of those lists; I don’t know how the hell they avoid it,” he said, adding: “If you look at the Canadian-Swedish contingent, they were very disproportionately Jewish. The deserters!”
“Black Americans could “strengthen our country” in “500 years” but that “they have [to] be, frankly, inbred.”
“Virtually every Irish I've known gets mean when he drinks.”
