Details are beginning to surface for Get Lonely, the follow-up to The Mountain Goats fantastic 2005 album The Sunset Tree. The album, set for release August 22 on 4AD, is being described as the aftermath to the exorcising of John Darnielles personal demons on last years album. Fans should expect, a reflective, bittersweet affair, perhaps more intimate than its predecessor. Also of note, is Darnielles decision to keep with his recent hi-fi aesthetics. Long-term collaborators Peter Hughes and Franklin Bruno took part in the recording process, and the album will also feature cellist Erik Freidlander as well as several instrumental contributions from the albums producer Scott Solter. Darnielles hollering-into-boom-box days are now past the point of return it would seem.
