The Libertines Might Actually Practice Before They Reunite

Believe it or not, Pete Doherty used to be famous for writing good songs, not being a raging addict. When The Libertines announced they were reuniting to play at Reading and Leeds earlier this year, it marked a potential new leaf for the troubled singer, after a rough half-decade spent in the spotlight for all the wrong reasons. Of course, the band has to get on stage first; frontman Carl Barat let it slip to the BBC that they haven't practiced since announcing the reunion, which seems troubling. You think Doherty is going to remember how to play all those guitar parts?

Fortunately, the Libs will be playing a show at the Forum in London as a warm-up for the biggest shows of their lives, where they'll be able to work out the reunion jitters before a crowd that will undoubtedly love everything they play. To the BBC, Barat said, "It's always a bit last minute with the Libertines. If we did it any other way it wouldn't be the Libertines." Punk rock, dude. He also remained indecisive about the band's future after the Leeds and Reading shows; a bigger tour/new album would be nice, but let's not hold our breaths. [Spinner]
