The Killers take top album spot in the UK

The UK album charts were announced yesterday, and in a surprising development, The Killers’ Day & Age has claimed the top chart spot from Guns N’ Roses’ Chinese Democracy. Sales figures aren’t yet available, but apparently the UK really loves the Killers, handing the Las Vegas band their third number one album.

These results aren’t likely to duplicate the U.S. charts, especially considering Kanye West’s 808s and Heartbreak couldn’t crack the Top Ten in the U.K. (it’s number 11), and is projected to be number one stateside. Also of note is the fact that Ludacris’ Theater of the Mind didn’t even crack the Top 75 in the U.K. [NME]

Interesting, but I agree that GNR will outsell The Killers in the U.S.
